Tours

Rather then putting the usual fine print below your tour options where you may miss it… we have opted to put it at the top of the page for you.

We love showing off our island even to just one person! However, we must charge a two person minimum fee if you wish to go alone. Sometimes we might be able to pair a single person with others if those persons do not mind sharing. We cannot guarantee that there will be someone to go with you without some pre-planning. So… if you’re traveling here on your own please be prepared to pay for the cost of the tour for two.

Volcanic Expedition | $60 USD per person – Exclusive Private Tour

Our Volcanic Expedition is the most effective way to visit the highlighted South-West areas near the buried capital city that most people desire to see, which are allowed by authorities. These are areas directly related to the volcanological impacts of ashfall, hurricanes, earthquakes, acid rain, and abandonment over the last 30 years.

This private "3 hour tour" includes the Montserrat Volcano Observatory and its volcano views, MVO gift shop, and the comprehensive film Sunny's family created, which shares both the science and time frame of the last eruption from July 18th, 1995 to the present. Don't worry, we aren't heading anywhere near Gilligan's Island. 🙂

You will cross the historic Belham River Valley which has been filled with over 25+ feet of volcanic debris since the beginning of the eruptions, from ongoing lahars that accumulate and come down the valley during rain storms.

This leads to the quaint village of Cork Hill, where Sun first lived. This village is an example of what abandonment does after 30+ years in a volcanic and hurricane ravaged environment. Ride towards Richmond Hill to hopefully get a glimpse of our modern day Pompeii, roads and wilderness permitting. See the remnant of our capital city in its a surreal form at a safe distance from the original National Museum, the old Sugar Mill tower.

Access to St. George’s Hill has now been granted allowing spectacular mountain views as well as a look at the associated French fortifications. Beautiful Northern views plus the South overview looking towards the affects of massive pyroclastic flows leading into Plymouth make St. Georges hill remarkable, poignant and indeed sentimental to the returning Montserratian.

This Volcanic Expedition includes complimentary drinks, MVO admission, a comprehensive history, the surrounding areas of abandoned villages, and door to door service from your accommodations.

* Select the Plymouth Excursion add-on upon booking, including Zone V permit cost, to directly access buried areas up close and personal.

** The Montserrat Volcano Observatory is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays. Exceptions are made for special tourism days or for high volume of people.
